Frequently Asked Questions
Find answers to common questions about the Case Converter tool, from basic usage to privacy and technical details.
Yes, the Case Converter is 100% free to use. There are no hidden costs, no premium versions, no subscription fees, and no usage limits. Every feature is available without payment. We believe basic text tools should be accessible to everyone, so we have made the entire converter available at no cost whatsoever.
No, we do not store, save, or even see your text. All processing happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your text is never transmitted to our servers or any third-party services. Once you close or refresh the page, all data is gone. We have no ability to access what you convert.
The converter supports seven case types: UPPERCASE (all capital letters), lowercase (all small letters), Title Case (first letter of each important word capitalized), Sentence case (first letter of each sentence capitalized), Capitalize Words (every word capitalized), aLtErNaTiNg CaSe (letters alternate between cases), and iNVERSE cASE (swaps existing capitalization).
Absolutely. The tool is free for any use, including commercial projects. Convert text for business documents, client deliverables, marketing materials, or any other professional purpose without any restrictions or fees. There is no need to ask for permission or provide attribution.
Yes, the Case Converter is fully responsive and works on smartphones and tablets. The interface adapts to your screen size, making it easy to paste text, select conversion options, and copy results even on smaller displays. Any device with a modern web browser can use this tool.
Title case capitalizes the first letter of each significant word while keeping certain minor words (like a, an, the, and, of, in, to) in lowercase. It is used for headlines, book titles, and article headings. For example, the quick brown fox becomes The Quick Brown Fox.
Sentence case capitalizes only the first letter of each sentence, leaving everything else lowercase (except proper nouns, which you would need to capitalize manually). It is how most regular text is written. For example, THIS IS SENTENCE ONE. THIS IS SENTENCE TWO becomes This is sentence one. This is sentence two.
Inverse case swaps the current capitalization of each letter. Uppercase letters become lowercase, and lowercase letters become uppercase. It is useful when you accidentally typed with caps lock on. Instead of retyping, just apply inverse case. For example, hELLO wORLD becomes Hello World when inverted.
There is no strict character limit enforced by the tool. Practical limits depend on your browser and device capabilities. Most users can easily convert documents with tens of thousands of characters without issues. Extremely large texts over 500,000 characters might cause slight browser slowdowns.
Yes, the converter handles Unicode text including accented characters like e with acute, n with tilde, and u with umlaut. Case conversion applies only to letters that have uppercase and lowercase forms. Numbers, punctuation, symbols, and characters from scripts without case distinctions pass through unchanged.
Press Ctrl+Enter or Cmd+Enter on Mac to apply the currently selected case conversion to your text. Press Escape to clear both the input and output fields. These shortcuts speed up your workflow when processing multiple pieces of text.
The converter works with plain text only. Formatting like bold, italic, colors, and fonts from word processors is stripped when you paste. Only the text content is preserved and converted. Line breaks and paragraph structure are maintained.
Some edge cases can produce unexpected results. Title case intentionally keeps minor words lowercase. Sentence case capitalizes after periods, so abbreviations with periods might cause issues. Proper nouns are not recognized and will be lowercased in certain conversions. Always review the output.
The tool requires an internet connection to load the page initially. However, once the page is loaded, the actual text conversion happens locally in your browser and does not require continued connectivity. If you lose connection after loading, conversion will still work.
The Case Converter works in all modern browsers including Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge, Opera, and their mobile versions. We recommend keeping your browser updated for the best experience. Internet Explorer is not supported.
Yes, you can paste entire documents. The converter handles paragraph breaks and line breaks correctly. However, very long documents might be easier to process in sections. Copy a section, convert it, paste it back, then move to the next section.
Our converter processes text entirely in your browser for maximum privacy. It supports seven case types covering most common needs. The interface is designed for speed with keyboard shortcuts and instant results. There are no ads blocking the tool, no registration required, and no usage limits.
Title case follows standard English style guides that keep minor words lowercase. Articles like a, an, and the, plus short prepositions like at, by, for, in, of, on, and to, plus conjunctions like and, but, and or stay lowercase unless they start the title. This produces more professional-looking titles.
Yes, click the Download as TXT button after converting your text. This saves the output as a plain text file on your computer. The file is named converted-text.txt and saves to your default download location.
